Payson, UT (Sept.5, 2017) – Team Rocky Mountain ATV/MC-KTM-WPS took on the world, as the MXGP World Championship made it’s stop in the United States at WW Ranch in Jacksonville, FL this past weekend. With Blake Baggett having his thumb repaired, it was team riders Benny Bloss racing in the MXGP class and Dakota Alix in the MX2 flying the American flag at the USGP.
The unique, 2 day format allowed time for both riders to get comfortable with the soft and rough WW Ranch GP style track, with a qualification race on Saturday and the actual motos on Sunday.
A solid start would have Benny battling inside the top twenty in moto 1. He would mount a charge forward, running as high as 12th until he was forced to pull off with a health related issue around lap seven. He would come back strong in moto 2, finishing 13th and scoring points to place him 19th overall on the day.
It wouldn’t be the weekend Dakota was looking forward to in the MX2 class. He would start moto 1 from the far outside, timing the gate perfectly and using that FMF Racing Exhaust power to grab the holeshot. His moto went downhill after that, as a crash would aggravate his already injured groin and would call it a day right after.
Team Rocky Mountain ATV/MC-KTM-WPS will take a break before preparing for the 2018 Supercross season, starting with the Monster Energy Cup in October.
