Blake Baggett came into Atlanta ready to fight for the win as his night started at the front of the field. Beginning with his qualifying heat, Baggett led the field into the first turn to grab the holeshot. He quickly pulled away, hitting his marks every lap and showed confidence on the technical track. He never relinquished control of the lead until he took the checkered flag for a wire to wire victory. He carried that speed into the main event, rounding the first turn in third place. Blake continued to charge but rode a calculated race, moving into second mid-way. He then started to close the gap late in the race, putting pressure on Cooper Webb for the lead. After that late charge, he took the checkered flag in 2nd place.
“I’m happy with my ride tonight” said Baggett. “The track was tough and I had to stay focused out there. I just came up a bit short. We’ll keep digging and be ready to get that second win in Daytona next weekend.”
Justin Bogle made his way to the main event with a solid ride in the LCQ, where he took the lead before the end of lap one and never gave it up to win. His main event didn’t go as smoothly, however. He started at the back of the pack, and had to work his way forward to the checkered flag, finishing the night in 14th.
“Overall it was a positive night,” said Bogle. It felt good to get that win in the LCQ and a boost in my confidence. While I didn’t get the start I needed in the main, I am happy with my ride. We are still progressing and moving in the right direction. I’m looking forward to next weekend in Daytona. ”
